Kreston UK firms have collaborated for the fourth year running to produce their Academies Benchmark Report, a survey containing the results of nearly 300 academy trusts and over 400 schools throughout the UK.

The Kreston UK Charities and Education Group advises over 1,500 charities across a wide range of sectors including academies and other organisations within the education sector and the report is produced to help Trustees, Governors, Business Managers and Head Teachers to gain better understanding of the financial performance of their Academy and the strategic decisions they have to make.

Kreston CEO, Jon Lisby says:

“The report reconfirms Kreston’s position as the premier advisor to the UK Academies Sector. It demonstrates the benefits that clients can derive from the collaboration and cohesive approach of our network’s member firms whether national, as in this instance, regionally or globally. The main finding of the survey reveals that many Academies are in a stronger financial position than last year and are reserving funds for future expansion and to help cover for an expected fall in funding per pupil”.

Joe Scaife, Chair of the Kreston Academies Group and Partner at UK firm Bishop Fleming said:

“The Academy sector has seen steady growth over the last 12 months. A crucial trend is for the creation of Multi-Academy-Trusts (MATs), enabling neighbouring schools to reduce their overheads by sharing common costs. Every school is different, whether by location or by age-group of pupils and our benchmarking report provides vital information to the Headteachers and Governors of all Academies, each of whom will draw different messages from its content”

Kreston UK firms which took part in the survey were BHP, Bishop Fleming LLP, Clive Owen LLP, Duncan & Toplis, James Cowper Kreston LLP, Kreston Reeves, Mitchell Charlesworth and Peters Elworthy & Moore (PEM).
