Cairo provides backdrop for Kreston’s Middle East and Africa Conference.

This year Kreston held its Middle East and Africa conference in Cairo, attracting attendees from 10 of Kreston’s Middle East and Africa member firm countries plus several from ouside of the region.

The business programme commenced with a welcome from host firm, Kreston Egypt and Kreston CEO, Jon Lisby, updated delegates on Kreston strategy and discussed recent developments in the accounting market. Kreston Egypt then updated all on the association of firms in Egypt and the challenges of doing business in the country.

Keynote, Mr Ayman Soudy, Treasurer at CI (Commercial International) Bank, examined the difficulties of managing foreign currency risk given the strength of the US $ and the development needs of the Egyptian economy and a representative of the National Bank of Kuwait emphasised the benefits to corporate banking officers of receiving accounts that had been audited by a reputable firm that is part of an International Network.

Delegates received an introduction to an audit software package that is being developed to support the Arabic language and Andrew Collier, Kreston’s Director of Quality and Professional Standards, presented on current challenges in audit quality.

Member firms also updated all on their current activities and the issues they are facing to date.

Jon said:

“Cairo provided an extremely bustling and cosmopolitan setting for the conference. Our event this year was very much focused on strengthening relationships within the network and emphasised the importance of building quality both in the region and across the global network”.
