James Cowper grows by merger

UK member, James Cowper LLP has today announced a merger with Southampton based accountants Buchanans.

James Cowper and 15 strong Buchanans have worked closely together over recent months under a joint venture arrangement to provide specialist insolvency and business turnaround services.  The acquisiton now extends James Cowper coverage to Newbury, Reading, Oxford, Henley and Southampton, with a total professional staff resource of 175 staff offering the full range of accounting, financial and business advisory services.

Steve Clarke, Managing Partner at James Cowper said:

“It has long been James Cowper’s strategy to build a stronger insolvency and business turnaround practice and to expand.  Buchanans is an excellent fit, having a good tax and corporate finance practice that complements our own and a particularly strong insolvency team.  We are all excited by the merger and look forward to developing and expanding the Southampton office further.”

Peter Whalley, Partner at  Buchanans adds:

“We know the team at James Cowper extremely well and have worked very closely together over the past year.  This merger makes perfect sense at a time when clients are demanding an ever greater range of services from their professional advisers.”

Jon Lisby, Executive Director of Kreston International comments:

“I have known Peter Whalley for more years than I care to remember and Buchanans since its formation. We are really looking forward to welcoming Peter and his colleagues to Kreston International and are delighted to see this strengthening of Kreston’s representation on the UK’s south coast.”
