2007 Kreston Asia Pacific Conference, Hangzhou, China

T his years Kreston SEAFA Conference was held from July 20th to 22nd at the Zhejiang Xizi Hotel in Hangzhou , China . Thanks go to local member firm Zhejiang Zhonghui Certified Public Accountants Ltd, which organised and hosted this excellent event.

Jon Lisby , Executive Director of Kreston International and Edmond Chan, the Asian-Pasific Regional Secretary and partner of Chan and Chan ( Hong Kong ) were in attendance as were representatives of over 30 Kreston member firms from UK , Australia , Japan , Singapore , Poland , Vietnam and China .

The conference started with a visit to host firm, Zhejiang Zhonghui Certified Public Accountants Ltd where the delegates received a most friendly welcome and excellent hospitality from the partners and staff of the 300 strong host firm. The offices are of stunning design and delegates were able to gain an overview of the firms services and internal processes including staff training, internal management and quality control.

The business programme was opened by Edmond and Mr. Qiang Yu, Managing Partner of Zhejiang Zhonghui Certified Public Accountants Ltd.

The agenda included several presentations including and update on Kreston Strategy; the reform and development of Chinese accounting; the alternative investment market ( AIM ) of the London Stock Exchange and an overview of China taxation systems.

Board Director and Managing Partner of Dormers Accountants, Tony Dormer , closed the conference and emphasised the importance of collaboration.

Outside of the working sessions, the members and their companions enjoyed visits to the China Tea Museum and China Silk Museum , a boat-cruise on the Westlake and a visit to the ancient Linying Temple , and Buddhism temple .

“This was an outstanding event, held in the renown Wang’s Villa (Zhejiang Xizi Hotel) on the banks of Hangzhou ’s West Lake – certainly one of China ’s most beautiful and scenic locations and which was one of the seven ancient capitals in China . The organisation of this event by Mr. Qiang Yu and his staff was superb and we are most grateful to them for creating such a memorable conference. This conference has undoubtedly created new and lasting friendships between member firms and will generate new business opportunities”.
