Experience

Alexis Nicolaou currently heads the Digital Asset and Blockchain Technology Business Unit at Kreston ITH, where he leads multidisciplinary teams delivering advisory, assurance, and compliance services related to digital assets and blockchain-based business models. His work supports clients ranging from financial institutions to technology-driven start-ups, helping them navigate regulatory expectations while leveraging innovation responsibly.

Throughout his career, Alexis has held senior executive and C-suite roles across multiple sectors, including accountancy, finance, media, electronic banking, blockchain consultancy, and blockchain start-ups. He has led teams and engagements covering blockchain platform development, asset tokenisation, and the assessment of financial integrity risks associated with digital assets.

His expertise includes crypto transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting, digital asset fraud investigations, and the design and implementation of controls to support regulatory compliance and customer due diligence. Alexis has also overseen treasury operations and contributed to the audit and financial reporting treatment of digital assets within financial statements.

In addition to his executive roles, Alexis serves as a non-executive director on the boards of several financial institutions, providing independent oversight and strategic guidance on governance, risk, and technology transformation.
