Kreston’s 2018 Asia Pacific Conference was held at the Fairmount Makati Hotel in Manila from 5 – 8 July.  Hosted by local member firm MG Madrid & Company, 66 delegates from 15 countries were in attendance.

During the business sessions Kreston Director of Quality and Professional Standards, Andrew Collier updated all on Kreston strategy and MG Madrid introduced Eric Magcale, Managing Partner and Founder of EMJ & Co CPAS who gave an insight into doing business in The Philippines. Clive Relf from Kreston Reeves, presented Doing Business in Europe with a focus on Brexit and Meera Rajah from James Cowper Kreston updated all on the Future of UK VAT; Risks to businesses post Brexit and VAT and International Trade.

Members who also presented included Mark Tu from Top New in Taiwain who looked at current tax issues and opportunities available in the country and Pawel Brejzek from BPG Polska Audyt, who updated all on the importance of Poland to investors.

The group then split into Audit and Tax breakouts to update each other on recent developments and to discuss future best practice.

Our Key Note this year was Mr Chun Wee Chiew, Regional Head of Policy at ACCA for the Asia Pacific (ASEAN ANZ) regions. Chun Wee’s session, “Professional Accountants the Future – Generation Next” offered important strategies and processes for firms to consider when attracting, retaining and engaging the next generation of accountants.

Kreston Asia Pacific Regional Secretary, Edmond Chan commented:
“This was an excellent conference and it was great to see so many of our Partners from outside of the region in attendance.  Thank you to all at MG Madrid and the International Office for their organisation. The Asia Pacific Conference continues to be an important event in Kreston’s calendar and is an essential aid to the development of collaborative business opportunities and of profile raising in the region. I look forward to our 2019 conference”.
